A little about us
Pete and I grew up here in Yancey County where we met and fell in love with each other: and the beautiful place in which we live.
Art has always been an important part of our lives.
Whether through drawing, music, or dance, we have always enjoyed being involved in the arts.
Pete's parents started the pottery in 1963 in an old milking parlor just up the road from our present location
After living for sometime in Asheville, we decided we wanted a more creative outlet for our life’s work and began working full time to continue the family business.
Visit our studio.
We mix our own clay, and make our own lead free/food safe glazes.
Our pots are thrown on the wheel. We then sometimes build on that piece by adding hand sculpted figures, carvings, or other decorations.
You will see the wheel that Pete's mom started the business with over 50 years ago, built by a neighbor and powered by a washing machine motor.
You will see pots in all stages of becoming that wonderful piece you so enjoy using.
The fact that all of our pots are hand made, gives them their own personality, quirks, or imperfections that leave room for the individual spirit of each piece to come through.
We are open year round. Call ahead to be sure.
